Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Longwangzhang Formation was named by the No 1 Petroleum Exploration Team in 1962. The type locality is in the Longwangzhang Town of the Laiyang City. The key section is at north side of the Longwangzhang Village of Laiyang (120°49', 36°57').
Lithology and Thickness
The Longwangzhang Formation is a group of grayish purple, grayish white, grayish green and grayish yellow sandstone, siltstone and sandy conglomerate.

Lower contact
The Longwangzhang Formation is conformably overlying the Shuinan Fm.
Upper contact
